A tribute

This exists because someone gave the work away.

Every idea on the map was taught by Language Transfer, the free audio course created by Mihalis Eleftheriou. None of the teaching here is mine. This app is only a way of looking at his course sideways — as one growing structure rather than a queue of episodes.

The Thinking Method

Language Transfer does not hand you lists to memorise. It shows you what you already know — that English is full of Spanish, that a handful of endings unlock thousands of words — and then makes you derive the rest yourself, out loud, in real time. The lessons are recorded live with a real learner making real mistakes, which is exactly why they work: you hear the thinking, not just the answer.

That method is the reason this map is built the way it is. Concepts here accumulate layers instead of multiplying, because that is how the course actually teaches: episode 18 does not give you a new fact, it deepens the one from episode 11.

It is free, and it is funded by people who use it

The complete course is available at no cost, on the Language Transfer website, SoundCloud and YouTube — deliberately, so that cost is never the reason someone cannot learn. It survives on donations. If this map has been useful to you, the debt is owed upstream, not to me — support options are on their own site.

The written notes

The text this map is built from comes from languagetransfertribute.com, an independent tribute site that transcribes each Spanish lesson into writing. Its author describes the gap it fills better than I could: the recordings are excellent, but “you can't skim listen” — you remember there was a useful rule without remembering where it was.

This app is one further step along that same line. The tribute site closed the loop from audio to text; the map closes it from text to structure, so a concept can be found by what it is rather than by which episode happened to mention it.

What this app is, honestly

  • A personal study aid, built for getting back in after skipped days.
  • Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or reviewed by Language Transfer.
  • Read-only. No account, no backend, no analytics, no tracking. Your episode and open concept are kept in your own browser and nowhere else.
  • Condensed by nature — it will never replace listening. If a layer here does not click, the answer is the audio, not more text.

Corrections

Any error in a summary, ending or example is mine, introduced in the condensing — not the course's. The material and tools live at github.com/kevindaffaarr/spanish-transfer-map if something needs fixing.

Gracias, Mihalis.
